SATURDAY AUGUST 17 - 5PM
MAIN ST., GRIMSBY
It is the mission of the West Lincoln Memorial Hospital Foundation Inc. (the Corporation) to develop and cultivate philanthropic opportunities and collaborative relationships with others within the West Niagara community having similar goals to that of the Corporation to foster medical programs and health services and thus improve the health and well-being of the people in our communities.
GBF Community Services provides assistance to members of our community to meet their basic needs and to achieve self-sufficiency. GBF continues to expand our social services footprint directly in the Grimsby community. We operate a Food Bank, Social Enterprise (thrift Store) and Diversion site. Food aside, we are helping low income individuals and families in our community with housing and utility supports. We are committed to operating with environmental responsibility. Through our work in the community, we are sending a powerful message that the GBF team is committed to impacting our community, and that our neighbours should not struggle with the basics of life. Thank you for being a friend of GBF Community Services as we continue to build hope in our community.
Gillian’s Place is dedicated to providing a continuum of services for women and children who have experienced abuse in North and West Niagara. These essential services include 24-hour shelter and support, counselling, safety planning, emotional support, legal advice and transitional housing and assistance. Women can access the free and confidential services whether or not they live in the shelter. Gillian’s Place also works diligently to provide violence prevention education and to raise awareness on the issue of violence against women.
Events such as these raise much-needed funds to support the work of Gillian’s Place, help to raise awareness on this often over-looked issue, and let the women and children of Niagara know that their community supports them in their journey to a life free from violence.
Habitat for Humanity Niagara builds decent, and affordable houses, providing no-down-payment, interest-free mortgages to qualifying families who would otherwise not be able to purchase their own homes. Habitat is not a giveaway program in that we provide "a hand up not a hand out.” Established locally in 1993, Habitat Niagara will be constructing its 65th home in Niagara by the end of this year, serving 71 families over the past 26 years, creating stable and secure housing for 258 children. Recently, Habitat for Humanity Niagara was recognized as one of Canada’s Top 100 Charities in Canada as captured by MoneySense’s Charity 100.
Habitat for Humanity Niagara also operates a home improvement retail outlet – the ReStore – selling donated new and used building materials, hardware, appliances, and home supplies. Habitat for Humanity ReStores play an integral part in Habitat’s mission, providing financial support for our work. The Niagara ReStores are located at 2499 Hwy 20, Fonthill, 185 South Service Road, Grimsby, and 150 Bunting Road, St. Catharines.
